Summer sneaker rotation 2019
Warmer climes are here which means it’s time to swap the high-tops for low-tops. Let’s face it, sweaty soles are never fun. To ease your transition into footwear that matches this season’s vibe, we’ve culled together a short list of kicks for the summer:
TODD snyder x new balance 997 "love"
This is what pastel dreams are made of, boasting a colour palette that reminds one of bleached hair and beach days in the sun. Another Todd Snyder collab with New Balance means another style that doesn’t disappoint. Without divulging too much about the inspiration behind this style, we’ll leave you with this: good trainers are worn by cool people, and cool people stay woke.
converse chuck 70 low
Perfect for hot days, this canvas shoe is a summer staple. Converse has always been relevant and whenever summer rolls around, the brand reinforces this fact thanks to its trademark breathable upper and light construction. The slightly weathered styling lends to it a vintage appeal and thanks to its comfy cushioned insole, walking around all day won’t seem like such a chore. You’ll want to wear this pair until they’re actually vintage.
veja v-10
Despite the troubling consumerism associated with it, fashion is ever-evolving and the focus has off-late been on sustainability, and we approve. Veja drives forward this point with its planet-friendly sneakers. The brand redefines classic trainers with its ethically sourced and eco-sound materials. In today’s socially charged world, there’s nothing sexier than an environmentally responsible person. Think of yourself as Leo Dicaprio – but with fresher kicks.
nike air max 1 "sketch to shelf"
Shoes come and go, but none of them feel as special as the ‘Sketch to Shelf’ pair from Nike. Designed as an homage to the legendary Tinker Hatfield, these heavily doodled kicks feature elements from the designer’s original sketches of the iconic Air Max 1. Look out for handwritten notes, a dated signature, detailing along the translucent outsole, and of course, brush strokes of colour along a seemingly blank canvas. A must-have for any sneakerhead, this pair is sure to get the crew talking and possibly even spark creativity at the skate park.
new balance sdl330 sandals
Plot twist! Before you poo-poo the idea of having your toes exposed, hear us out. Sandals are back and we think newBalance ticks all the right boxes with this function-driven yet style-conscious pair. It is time to lean into the dad shoe trend of “ugly cool” and embrace the previously cringed at combo of socks (if you dare) and sandals..
